When Marcella Raneri and Daniel Nutkis celebrated their engagement at the Ritz-Carlton Dallas, the brief was simple in ambition and enormous in scale: a spring-themed party dressed in roughly 200,000 stem flowers, the first chapter in a four-season lead-up to their wedding. Guests arrived by vintage trolley car, driven straight through a cascading floral canopy into a ballroom built to look like a Parisian street in full bloom.
Every inch of the room carried the theme. Nicolas Barelier led the event and floral design in partnership with Roni Floral Design ... the French Riviera florist's global reputation, built on projects like the Paris Opera, made them, in Marcella's words, "truly the perfect team to bring our vision to life." Bayer Brothers Sets and GRŌ designs built the scenic production around them, Party! Dallas supplied the bespoke furniture, and Stage 2 Lighting shaped the room after dark.
The night's entertainment carried its own surprise. Gabriele Rizzi Lab staged the immersive elements ... a slow-motion petal-toss booth, a live artist sketching guests into floral portraits ... while Jordan Kahn Music Company anchored the live band. Then, midway through the night, The Chainsmokers stepped out for a full surprise DJ set. Marcella and Daniel had met the duo after watching them perform in Las Vegas earlier that year and booked them on the spot. "I immediately thought it would be the perfect vibe for our guests," Marcella said. By the time Drew Taggart dropped into "Paris," the room was unrecognisable from the dinner that had just ended.
Around 300 guests, including Alyssa Edwards and Hope Beel, spent the night under a ceiling that seemed to rain petals, with Alex Bramall documenting every detail in photographs and our own cameras capturing the film. "It absolutely surpassed my expectations," Marcella told Local Profile after the party. "One of my favorite moments was the look on everyone's faces when The Chainsmokers came out."
This is the first of four seasonal celebrations Marcella and Daniel are building toward their wedding ... spring for the engagement, summer for the hen party, autumn for the bridal shower, and winter, finally, for the wedding itself. If the opening chapter is anything to go by, the finale will be extraordinary. We can't wait to be there for it.
